Hey guys. I'd like your opinion on grade, value, and how much you think I paid.

Looks nicer and more original tone then mine. It looks like the "pluribus" is worn.Probably paid somewhat more then I did for your coin.

I had read that there is metal flow into the "pluribus" area when the coin was struck, and have seen other high grade examples with that area filled. I'm not worried about that. On the downside, I dont have the coin in hand. I ordered it and these were the only pics to go by. I took a chance and got a good deal if the coin looks like this in hand. :-) By the way, murty, you have a really nice example in your thread.

To me, that's an XF long before the previous 1834 posted is an XF. On the previous 1834, I didnt like the wear on the denticles/rim.

I agree that this 1834 is superior to mine, and I didn't notice the wear on the denticles/rim from the pix on e-bay. I bought mine as an ef-40...plus the price was right!I

Well, I wont say that mine is superior until I get to see it in hand. Either way, bust halfs seem to have drastically decreased in value lately, which I believe is part of the reason we are getting phenomenal deals. It seems to be the time to buy busties if you like them. Here is a link to my purchase if your interested in what I payed. The seller lists it as EF, but many on cointalk believe the coin could go AU....though it's entirely possible that it was cleaned.

I do like the bust series...do you think the other denominations are also decreasing?/ If so why? Attached is the link to the coin I bought.

I really dont know. There is a thread discussing this on cointalk if interested. There are a couple of factors that may indirectly relate.
a) demand is shifting over to Lincoln cents.
b) the economy in general is bad = less demand.

Pictures not great...but the coin looks AU-50 or 53...really nice sharp strike! The reverse weakness on the E Pluribus Unum is common and some have more than others depending on the hubs used.

If you paid under $100 you got a steal..if you paid $125 to $175 you got an amazing deal...if you paid $200 -275 you paid about right...if you paid more than $300 you may have gone too high...enjoy your new coin!

Thanks. I received the coin today, and the pictures are pretty accurate....although I think the color or lighting was off. The coin exhibits the usual steel grey color seen on other bust halfs, though the pics give it a goldish hue.

oh. I paid about $82 including shipping. I'm on my way to redeeming myself for my loss on the counterfeit $3 gold piece. :-) Thanks for the feedback.
