Hi I'm fairly new to numismatics and I have inherited some older coins, roughly in the same shape. they are listed as BU-UNC and I am wondering what that translates in today's grading standards. They don't look like they have a value high enough to pay for the cost of sending them off for grading so I humbly turn to you the experts in coin community. 1944 1945

to the family! BU is a term used for "Brilliant Uncirculated"...in a grading sense it means nothing other than a shiny uncirculated coin. Yea, those probably won't grade super high but because they're uncirc, MS-60 or better.

Since I am still new is there any particular reasons that you don't think it would grade well? Is there wear I'm not noticing?

These coins would require essentially MS64 to be worth just the cost of grading. So you would need MS65 or higher to feasibly want to pay for grading. This coin does not look like it could get even close to that but the pictures aren't great for sure.

Quote: Since I am still new is there any particular reasons that you don't think it would grade well? Is there wear I'm not noticing? The 44 reverse shows a few scratches down the right side and one starts in the "D" and continues through the 44. That scratch could affect the grade. The surfaces don't show up well enough for proper grading here but very probable that their value won't cover the grading costs. Better pics would possibly help us. A macro setting is a plus..if you can.
