I am hoping to get a few opinions on what type of doubling this is. All input appreciated.

I'm no authority on mint errors, but it is very interesting and I look forward to what everyone says about your half. I just got a microscope and am looking for stuff like this, too.

It is a Machine Doubling.I have seen and actually sold many examples of this type doubling on 1971-1979 Kennedy halves, some with really strong doubling.I will look into my photo files and if I find one will post an example.

Thanks all for your comments. I see these on Kennedys all the time. I'm pretty sure it's Strike Doubling too. Just thought I'd run this one by ya'll to be sure because it's not all flat and shelf-like like most of them. The lip area is raised and rounded. I can't explain that, any ideas? Maybe it's strike and worn die? Chase, I'd like to see you post one just like this one. lol Hi ya CC, long time no see. Crazyb0, those are prison lines on the brow. That's a pretty obvious example you posted, definitely flat and shelf-like. Reminds me of this one.

for the Olde Tymey collectors, that's known as a Chatter Strike-seen often enough on Middle Date Large Cents and Capped Bust Halves

Nice one Chase, it is pretty close, thanks. Kidrootbeer, I assume you're talking about Chase's coin. Is it called Chatter Strike because of multiple bounces?
