1891 Morgan For Grading

In a PCGS 63 holder. VAM 2 doubled ear top 100. You think it could make a 64 with the few hits on the cheek. Above average strike for this year and the toning is yummy. Should I send it in for reconsideration or crack it out and send it in raw and have it VAM attribution to it. I have about 13 coins going economy service and 2'valuable pieces going normal service. looks like a nice 63 with a shot, but those vertical luster breaks on head seem very prominent. attractive toning.

The small gash under the eye, and a V shaped hit to the right of the eye is what worries me. I got it $60 under greysheet on a lucky auction. If it hits a 64 it's a $500 plus piece, plus the extra value of being a top 100 VAM. If I sent it in for reconsideration then it's a new invoice and will cost me more money in the end via insurance and shipping versus just cracking it out and sending it in raw and having it graded with the others and paying for the VAM attribution fee, decisions decisions......

Agree. Shot 64 perhaps, but the toning may be hiding some flaws that aren't apparent in the pics.

I looked throughly, the fields are remarkably clean. The face took the most hits. With the 2 major ones noted there is a little bit of chatter on the lower jaw. Hence why I posted pics cause right now it's a coin flip essentially. I think the nice toning and above average strike along with the clean fields should make it a good case for a 64. Then again I am biased lol. I await more responses.

I would like the VAM identification myself. But I wouldn't count on this getting a 64. All in all I would probably keep it as is and be happy to own it.
