I have to agree, the Laura Gardin Fraser design for the obverse of the Washington quarter is a very attractive design. It is in my opinion a definite improvement on the selected design by Flanagan. My personal favorite is the reverse of the Liberty Walking Half. Closely followed by the obverse of the SLQ.

I've always liked the Standings and the Walkers, but I also like the Indian Heads for their clean and simple, straight-forward design (wreath, shield, "one cent" on the reverse), and the Buffalo nickels. Those are American coins, coins that could only come from America. The buffaloes share the same problem as the standings and walkers, that being the relative difficulty of finding them in such condition that important features - like the date, LOL! - aren't worn away. In general, I've disliked the movement away from abstracts (the Indians and "Liberty" in her many forms) towards the representation of identifiable, particular men, although Lincoln would have made a fine reverse to the Wheat penny.

I love bust silver coins as well. The eagle on the reverse is one of my favorites. -PP

I also love slq's and walkers, but my absolute favourite has to be the Flowing Hair dollars, and particularly this one!

I'm in the minority here, but I've always thought the designs on SLQs, Walkers and St. Gaudens were too convoluted and have always preferred something simpler, like this:

Those pics of the early commems really are great. Hard to pick one, they all have certain aspects of the design that I love. Indians are right up there also.

I love animals, so anything with an Eagle is definitely a hit, and wolves, although I've never seen a US coin depicting a wolf....

That's a tough question for me. I've always liked the Walking Liberty half obverse, and also the reverse. Same with the Standing Liberty quarter, again both obv. and rev. The first coins I ever really collected were the wheat pennies, so I am kind of partial to the wheat design. I also like the wreath on the back of the Flying Eagle cents, and also the FE itself. Oh yeah, and I like the Buffalo nickel too, both obv. and rev. Did I leave anything out?

All beautiful coins! Pennypusher - really, really love that half. MY favorites would have to be the Walking Liberty half and now the ASE. Something about that design!

I'm going Swiss on this, but I enjoy them all. Each design has its own place in history, which, to me, tells a story of what pride we had/have in our coinage.

I am partial to the Seated Liberty coins. Gotta love ones that you can see the full straps on the sandal...especailly on a Half Dime! Image Insert: Image Insert: Image Insert: I am also a big fan of well worn Morgans/Peace. Who carried it and where has it been? Image Insert: Image Insert:
