Did anybody get to look at the new guide yet. I was wondering what if any new variety denomination is in the back of the guide this time. P.

I still regularly use my 1970 edition ! Works OK for me. Pricing is slightly out, but that's OK, you can get those from PCGS Coin Values on the 'net. I have about 50 Canadian (mainly silver) coins in my World coin collection. Don't collect them beyond 1967, when silver was no longer issued into circulation. I mainly collect by type.

sel, the pricing on those is already not that acurate. But we buy them for the info. Every year they'll have a small section dedicated to something specific (a certain denomination/period and it's varieties). Anyone know that it is this year? THe last one I have is 2016 and that was small cent varieties

The 2018 edition was not at the RCNA. I've heard that there is no variety section in this edition but have not confirmed that. Gene

What I find interesting is that how this guide book is so difficult to find.

If I'm reading this correctly, 2018 Charlton (Vol 1) Edition #71 follows 2016 Charlton Edition #70, so no 2017 (Vol 1) guide was printed. Only a 2017 (Vol 2) was published. http://www.charltonpress.com/numismatics2.aspCOMING SOON - RELEASE DATE July 2017
2017 Canadian Coins: The 71st edition of the Charlton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Coins Volume One is expected to be released during the 2017 RCNA Convention in Boucherville starting July 18. This is the first issue of this authoritative catalogue under the new editor and publisher Mark Drake. The 320-page spiral bound catalogue has been completely redone with a new, fresher look. The latest technical information has been added for 2017 releases along with updated prices based on the latest market analysis.Website hasn't been updated, sure hope that's not indicative of new owner's overall manner of attention to detail and accuracy.

The publication Canadian Coin News is selling the 2018 volume 1 71st edition for. $24.95 with a 15% discount for subscribers but if you live in the USA, shipping is $16+. Which is ridiculous to pay for a book that ships for almost as much as the book itself. I'll wait until Amazon has it. As of now, Amazon has only the 2017 editions 1 and 2. I tried calling Charlton Publishing But all I get is a voice message saying I'm on the phone or away from my desk, leave a message, etc. Nobody called me back here in Florida.

I was up at CA this morning and took a glance at the new 2018 Catalogue. For those wondering, there is no special section in the back. It stops at the test tokens section. I do like the new format though, find it easier to read. For me it would not be worth buying as everything I am interested in I can find in my other Charlton's. For someone without a Charlton, it would serve the purpose.

Note that the test token section was revamped a bit... some new varieties were added to the "front of the book". Several of us put in a lot of work on this edition, most of it at the 11th hour in a mad panic...
