So this morning I decided to holder a bunch of loonies I had in my drawer. I had been accumulating them for a while. Anyways I just now noticed the dates have been removed from the reverse and put on the obverse of the coins! Looks like the change happened when the RCM decided to put the security marks on the reverse. I had already stapled the flip so I ended up cutting it out and reholdering it so the date shows.

Ouch. For what it is worth, I would have probably done the same. I had no idea until you posted this.

I noticed as well that the RRC initials were moved from above the water lines into the water lines.

It looks like to me that they only did this for 2013 and 2014, correct?

http://goccf.com/t/292876This touches on your subject also . I believe 2012 was the first year. The no security is getting scarce for sure.

Reholdering is a circumstance we all have to face occasionally.

I don't spell so well on 2x2's. It has cost me more than a few. jbuck- they changed things in 2012 and the changes continue to the present 2017 loonie. If you go with a specimen or proof you can get the old style, date on reverse, RRC above waterlines. I hope the silver dollar crowd will forgive me for using the language "waterlines". It is a commonality of the old and new $1.00 coin though.
