What grade did you want to buy . And how much does the seller want for this one ? It's a nice coin ,but it's not Unc .

Thanks for the responses, everyone.

Seller is asking $15.80 + $3 shipping [EDITED to reflect $USD], but said I could get it for less.

I wanted to wait to respond. Man, grading is hard for a beginner like me. I thought I was developing a handle on it but I thought this would grade in the MS range. Obviously there's something about it that rules it out of Unc. Is it the 'softness' I see in the devices that shows it's been circulated?

So $15.80 is way too much for an Unc coin...

I would also say AU-58, although the angle and lighting of the photos may be a bit deceiving. Personally, I would pass on the coin unless you're looking to build an AU set, in which case it looks like a nice addition. This date is very common in BU and you can get an even nicer MS-63 to MS-65 for a little more money.

Okay thanks CollegeBarbers, consistent results here. This sure is helpful in terms of my grading research. I'll be posting more of these for sure.

I think I mentioned this in the other grading thread I started, but... in no other pursuit have I ever been more convinced that it's buyer beware, and unfortunately I have seen a lot of stuff on Amazon that makes me think there are people out there who have tricks to move coins at more than they're really worth.

This site might help with initial grading of WQ's, it helped me learn the wear points, etc when I first started my set. https://www.thespruce.com/grade-was...rters-768396

Washington quarters are notorious for weak strikes. for a novice determining the difference between that and wear can be a challenge. looking at the high points, the hair around the ear, the bottom of the bust and the high point on the eagle breast you will see very light dullness which is actually from light circulation therefore the AU58 grade

I agree with Debrajc MS60 and could make MS61 in my opinion. This is a good looking coin with light luster.
