Hello, This coin has a spot of extra material on it. Any idea what caused it and what would this be called? My apologies for the photo quality, It is vwery dirty and hard to photograph. Many thanks David

that coin is so dirty it looks like a capped die strike! Looks like a real big die chip to me. An error simpler to a Cud.

Need better pics and a close up of the area in question. As of now it does not look like an error. John1

Good morning, Here is a little better photo of this coin. Short of cleaning it this is the best photo I can get. The area is just a raised blob of extra metal. I hope this photo helps. Thanks again David

Poke at it with your fingernail. If it squishes down, it's a worthless gas bubble. If it stays firm, it's quite the interesting Cud / die chip / die break.

Hello, Thank you all for your replies. As a newcomer to this hobby I appreciate all the insight and information offered here. The blob of material is solid and is just slightly higher than the edge of the coin. In your opinion what would be the best way for me to classify this coin. Many thanks David

Split plating possible from pin point, allowed the zinc to start rotting. Started raising from the oxygen in the air reaching the zinc. spendable.

Probably a major case of Zinc rot.
Errers and Varietys.
