As I am new to all this I found this 1959 Jefferson nickel that looks like to me is a proof. It has got that mirror look with a wire edge feel to it. no mint mark on it though. Its in great condition and I don't no if this matters but it looks like its got 5 or 6 steps on it as well. Was wondering if anyone had more detailes about this and if its worth anything. Whats funny is I found this in the cash register at work.

Another trick to IDing proofs is if the rim is even all around. It does appear to be a proof, but by pix can't tell enough to grade it, if has micro scratches, discoloration, dings and other circulation problems

It does appear to be a proof, but since it has circulated and that circulation is evident this would be termed a impaired proof. It is certainly worth keeping, although the value is small.

It sure looks like a proof to me. In 1959, they were minted in Philly so they don't have a mintmark. Clearer pics would be needed to determine condition and value but it's probably not worth any more than $1.

Excellent circulation find!

Yes I believe it's a proof . Being that you found it in a cash register draw it would be called an impaired proof . Little value .
