There are a couple of "varieties" that you could check for with the '79's.
Narrow rim and Wide rim or "far date" and "near date". You could look in a
RedBook to see what those look like exactly.
The '81 P,D, or S were only issued in Mints sets......but you didn't mention those.
But, even in Uncirculated condition, they don't command much money.....
The book only lists two conditions..... PF65 (proof) and MS63 condition (choice uncirculated) with that being the "lowest" listed price value and that says $3.00..(which typically the
RedBook badly inflates or is just outdated and their "coin values" listed are to be ignored anyway).......you said yours were average or below so........
You could still just save the best "examples" you have and put em' away for a couple of decades.....ya never know if they'll become popular.
1979 "D" is the highest mintage number at
288,015,744........the 1980 "P", "D", or "S" still has
the same value as the 1979 does even though the mintage numbers are
41 million or less........just
not a real valuable coin.....espicially in those conditions IMHO....
