they aren't air tight and I actually don't know of any albums that would be unless they hosted airtites or something like that. I think they are fine for long term storage as long as you don't leave them in a high humidity area or something like that

Though nothing is perfect, I like my long term chances more with Dansco than any of the other affordable options.

I have been using Dansco albums for well over twenty years now, my oldest two being purchased in 1984, the newest one in 2000. About twelve years ago, I replaced the binders on the three oldest albums (the pages are original) because I moved around a lot when I was younger and I was not always careful with them. That said, the oldest pages are twenty-four years old, while the oldest binders are about twenty. They are stored in a climate controlled environment. No problems with the coins.

In checking my oldest Dansco Albums I find that the coins look exactly as they did when I placed them in the holes years ago.
Obviously not air tight, but about as good as you can do I think.

Unless you're "Bubble Boy" and live in a perfect climate controlled home would be the only sure fire method...... Safety deposit boxes at the bank are what I use for coins that I want kept under those conditions and for long term storage......best for fire, theft, flood, etc. etc. etc. too ! It's when you've inherited "Grandpa's coins" or something similar that have 60+ years on the albums and folders and U.S.Mint holders, that you can witness "deterioration" of coins from poor storage and high humidity. You are talking about a very "high quality" company in Dansco .......so.....just don't leave em' out in the rain or sitting by the "humidifier" or something !...LoL

I've used Whitman Albums for as long as there have been Whitman Albums. I started with the folders since about 50 years ago that is all there was. Moved all coins to Albums when they were finally made. Presently have over 100 Albums. All in zip lock plastic bags. All coins look the same as the day I put them in the Albums. I'm sure Dansco Albums are the same.

Dansco's are cool, but keep humidity and sulfur gases in mind. Have some shiny copper (95%) cents loose in the are where the albums are (preferably a safe) along with some dessicant. I've got some beautiful toning going on in my Dansco, but I hope I stopped it now. I also bought their protective sheath which should go pretty far to prevent further toning.
