Can Your Recommend A Good Reference For Ancient Roman Coins?

oriole Pillar of the Community Canada 5246 Posts	Posted 08/12/2017 4:07 pm Once again, I have failed to attribute an ancient Roman (a Philip sestertius) because my book was incomplete-it lacked provincial issues. Fortunately the community succeeded, but I really need a better book. Can you recommend one? Report this Post to the Staff

echizento Moderator United States 23731 Posts	Posted 08/12/2017 5:26 pm RIC of course is an excellent reference, but a lot of the material is out of date and the books are expensive. You might be able to find a copy on CD but it is difficult to navigate through. Sears Roman Coins and their Vales is also and excellent resource. I like using ERIC II, it is a large book that covers Roman and Byzantine coins. You might be able to get a copy here: http://www.dirtyoldbooks.com/ or on ebay. Report this Post to the Staff

I guess that they never really took on though as no one here seems to use that reference.
