Hit the coinshow in Statesville NC. As usual spent more than I planned.

I picked up these two Republican Denarius at Tom Wood's table (Ephesus Numismatics). Guy Clark's wife Valerie was there, and I have the honor of saying that a nice chunk of my collection including these two denarii come from Guy.

I also picked up this, my first sestertius from Guy's collection. Figures it would be a deification issue.

Finally, I visited Caesarea in Israel in May so I've been looking for a coin minted there. Tom hooked me up with this bronze provincial piece, my first, and a Judaea Capta issue to boot.

Tom's a real class act and I'm always happy to find him at the shows. I always leave his table poorer but richer in others ways.

Very nice pick ups. Lately I've been building a small collection of Judaean coins so seeing the Judaea Capta is really nice.
Rest in Peace

Why'd you have to go and tell me that there are ancients dealers in my neck of the woods?!

Mooresville resident here!

Those are some great coins! I especially like the second denarius; you remind me that I really need to add at least a few examples of Republican coins to my collection!

Oh yeah. They're around - especially when you find a few extra bucks in your pocket.

I'm looking forward to the NCNA convention and show in Concord, NC Sept 29-Oct 1. Hopefully my wallet will recover by then.

Great pick-ups @jskirwin! My faves are the denarii.

Nice pickups. Congrats. Guy Clark, who passed away early this year, was a genuinely good guy. Several of the coins in my collection were purchased from him. Always enjoyed dealing with him.

I used to get lrbs from both Tom and Guy. Had not learned of his passing until now. Sorry to hear of it. He was an honest man.

Very nice, Romans aren't really my thing but Republican Denarii I think are excellent, those are no exception.

I have had limited dealings with Ephesus but they seem straight up and helpful people to do business with.

Congrats :-)

We, collectors, must learn that our coins will survive us several thousands years. Our coins and collections will spread away after our death so we can be happy if some of our coins ends in the collection of a friend...
When my son Ricardo started to collect ancient coins he was very surprised of finding in my collection a coin in a very poor condition; I must explain him that it was a gift from a deceased friend...
Of course that coin is still in my collection!
