It's at least a 55, and maybe 58. The weird toning is throwing me off completely loving this coin. The light areas are not where the coin would receive additional circulation after toning.
Beautiful otherwise with a minimum of hits or marks and unbelievable rims. I don't think I've seen a SLD with such outstanding rims in ages.
That toning just bugs me...

A tough hole to fill.  I know, I still have two of them.  Interesting tone. I like the colour in the last photo, similar to two of my other Seated coins. I suspect the first two photos are holding back a little. Nice detail though. Probably a lot better than what I will eventually afford.

Split decision around here :) Purchased on the bay from a seller out of TN with a lot of quality weekly auctions. I don't really like the toning but my best guess in hand is that it is legit... but then again what do I know :)

Yeah bro, I would have to see this one in hand. Can you post a side view pic of the reverse? just like the last photo of obverse? It's definitely an au coin, but I'm stumped as to whether its ED or AT. I've got a 49 that has funky toning but I'm not sure what to make of this one.

I'd give it an AU-58 for now, but give it an acetone bath and see if there are any problems not seen right now.

I think it's environmental damage. I would send it in to ANACS to get a second opinion. If it grades straight, then you have a very unique and beautiful example. Really pretty toning but there's only so much you can tell from a picture. Post a link to ebay auction if you don't mind. I dug through my Heritage files hoping I still had this 1862 in my tracked lots. It was from the ANA show.
