Ok post a similar coin; however, don't post an exact copy. Other denominations or dates from South Africa are fine.

1 point each for:

1. Dated 1897
2. One side has only a portrait
3. Denomination of 2 somethings
4. Has a lion
5. Has a covered wagon
6. Has a soldier
7. Has both the letter A and the letter Z
8. Features a beard as long or longer than the owner's head

This one would be worth 8 points.

It looks like 2 points is all that I can come up with. Note that modern South African Coins don't have a Z (Suid-Afrika), but Elizabeth II coins from the UK do.

Wow, if I can mostly stump @pepactonius,then this must be a pretty esoteric challenge.

I think I can do 3 points with a ZAR coin, or also 3 with a certain modern South African coin.
Not sure which one will be easier to find. I've seen both recently, but they likely went off in one of my desk clean-ups...

That said, I'll have to look through my Numista collection again too see if I have anything better. (I doubt it, though.)

[EDIT: checked everything denominated 2, found several 3-pointers but nothing higher.]

Ok here is the leader board for now:

1. @keith12: 1
2. @dorado: 3

I didn't state when I'd close this round, so will give folks until Sunday. Plenty of time to look in your collections @jbuick, @pepactonius, @j1m, and others.

It appears that I have quite a few two-pointers But nothing that makes it to three (from what is logged in my Numista collection).
