I was contemplating posting a medieval coin, but intead, I will post this one: That is 1/10 of a penny from British West Africa, 1926. British West Africa consisted of the modern-day countries of the Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria, and Sierra Leone. Just looking at the coins this place issued, it looks like the earliest is from 1907, and the latest is from 1958. Begining in 1957, the four places British West Africa consisted of started gaining independence; the Gambia was the last to gain it, doing so in 1965.

Quote: What about Yugoslavia itself? Yes, of course, as that is what I meant. Same for the Soviet Union. As for ancients, I totally forgot about them fitting the bill, but they are welcome of course.

These will always be a favorite. India, Princely state of Bundi Silver Rupee (1920s?) GEORGE V EMPEROR, around Katar (push dagger) Raghubir Singh, date in VS calendar (can't find my cheat sheet so I don't know the last digit) The Princely States were semi-independent political enclaves within the British Raj; think sort of like the "reserves" for the Native Americans in the 19th century, but a more equal arrangement. Bundi wasn't much of anything, but their claim to fame was their ornamental katars, a few of which were sent to go on display at Victoria's golden jubilee. Bundi is one of just a few princely states that put the British monarch's names on the coins, and the hand-engraved and hammered dies give them a very distinctive and unique look. The mint at Bundi was shut down in 1932 following mass depopulation as a result of a famine. Bundi was officially absorbed into India in 1949, and the descendants of the ruling family still hold their honorary titles, but weild no actual power.

Everyone made a good contribution to this round. Difficult to choose a winner based on that alone. Oh, welcome to the game, jfransch. If my research is correct, MontCollector has participated in many rounds, but has never had a chance to host. So, it is all you, MC.

Sorry if this category has been played before. It hasn't been played since I started playing the game. Okay here we go! Challenge coin Of all the meant for circulation coins in our collection, that I have been able to research so far anyway, the one above has the lowest mintage numbers of just 100,000 coins minted. Now the Challenge: This one is gonna be pretty simple. Post a photo of your lowest mintage meant for circulation coin. Include the mintage numbers as well pleaseWe are going by actual mintage numbers NOT by how many are thought to be left due to melting. This is not intended for NIFC/bullion coins sorry. Lowest mintage number wins. Plain and simple. Tie goes to the one who posted 1st according to CCF time stamp. Ends Sat Jan 6th at 9 pm forum time. Have fun all

Fun challenge! Mine is pretty clear-cut: British Honduras 50 cent 1901 Mintage 10,000 I have one lower "circulation" coin, but it's from the joke state of Hutt River Province... would that count?

Hm... I do not think Maundy pieces were meant for circulation, so I will have to go with this 1/2 groschen piece from the German state of Hannover, dated 1863: The mintage for that type/date is 46'668.

Quote: I have one lower "circulation" coin, but it's from the joke state of Hutt River Province... would that count? Hmm, It doesn't seem to be officially recognized as a legitimate country. So I would have to say no. As a side note, this has been attempted here is the US several times. The most famous being the state of "Franklin".
