Hello everybody,
I am a new member to this forum and first of all I want to say what a great resource this site is! :)
As my first question I would like to ask the more knowledgeable forum members about two coins that are in one of my friend's possession.
One is Greek and the other one is Roma, but besides that our knowledge is limited.
What are they, what are the years they where minted and what is their approximate market value?

Thanks a lot.
Laurentiu I.

Images are shuffled up a little. The Greek is an Alexander the Great (drachm? Need size and weight to tell). Zeus' legs are not crossed, so that usually means lifetime issue.

Roman is a Julius Caesar denarius, by L. Flaminus.

I am 99% sure that both are modern forgeries, these are two of the most commonly forged types, and in this condition, the Alexander would be worth a few hundred bucks, and the Caesar would be worth well over $1,500. Both have that dull "museum replica" look about them.

Unfortunately both are modern fakes.

@isographer, first welcome to CCF. Second, I agree with the others that your friend has two counterfeit coins. Their value is essentially zero.

Both are documented cast fakes.
