Poll Question
The 2008w Eagle with 2007 rev... I see alot of folks calling this an "error".
I find it hard to see it that way. What do you error-philes think?
Personally I just see it as one of 2 varieties available this year. Not really an "oops!" kind of error.

Neither one.
It's an unintended occurrence - a variety that happens to be scarce. There's no "error" and they didn't make them to sell them as two different reverses, so neither of your vote statements stick.

Before I cast my VOTE, I'd like to see exactly what they look like please. Thanks.

Chuckster - Any 2007 would have the same reverse as the scarce 2008. Most 2008s have the 2008 reverse. The biggest part of the difference is on the U of UNITED. The 1007 reverse has no 'downstroke' on the right side of the U. The 2008 reverse does.
The differences are pretty obvious when you observe the two reverses together.

I order 2 of everything I get from the mint... I was lucky enough to get one of each! I will say, comparing them side by side, the 2008 rev is much nicer. It doesn't look like a big difference in pics, but they really sharpenend up the details. The 2008 rev almost looks like a 'reverse proof', it's that pretty on the burnished planchet. The 2007 rev looks almost softly struck in comparison. Just my .02 from comparing. Coppercoins: You have a point. Really what you said is what I was trying to get at in my poll answer, I just didn't have the wording clarity you brought to the discussion.

Just because they didn't deliberately make them to sell doesn't make it any less of being one of two varieties possible this year. I agree though, it isn't an error. It is a mule though.

The mint came out and said there are around 45K of these, there was an article in Coin World this week. I picked on up as that is a pretty low population.

Would be better if there were only 45... no "k"!

I feel prices will go way up if the Dansco's and Whitmans put this in their albums, if they do then the price will go way up. I picked one up on speculation, I am betting on them increasing in price as more collectors find out about the two types.

chrsb, Hi, I saw you here, and thought I would pop in and let you know that I finally got a list of my needs, in the '09-'40's. I'll give you first shot with the rolls, and then post in the "wantabuy",for the singles that we can't come up with. This is a follow-up on the emails. Dick
