Is thissome form of "GHOST Doubling" or the real thing?
I'm controlling my feelings on this until the experts give their evaluation!

I can see actual doubling of the 1992 and the mint mark D- its very faint but its there. You can't see it without magnification, but it showed up under my little 5X Bausch & Lomb.

Comments/Opinions please.

I'm no expert, but I have seen hundreds of pennies with this same type of "ghost" doubling and I believe it's a strike error and not a die error. I hate to bust your bubble, but I believe it's worth no more than $0.01. I don't believe there's any known varieties of DDO on the 1992D either...

No- there are not any 1992D DDO's right now.

The " GAS BUBBLES" syndrome again (LOL)

Its amazing how it mirrored the actual date- from the inside hook on the 9's ,the curve on the 2, parrelling the lenght of the 1.

Got an answer from Mr Diamond at CONECA and I quote:

"Its not a doubled die or any sort of die variety.
The copper plating was disturbed by tensile forces set up during the strike. In more severe cases, the plating splits"

So much for that!!- Time to start looking through the Bank-rolls of pennies again.
