Found this guy in a Littleton/no name 4 coin set. Looks close the #1 on maddieclashes, minus the clash above the bow tie. Too bad it was replated.

That's a nice one. Since the 1943 Wheat cents were made of steel, Die Clashes happened a lot more do to the dies deteriorating faster. The composition of the coin was the issue, not the dies when it comes to Die Deterioration Doubling. For the Die Clashing, the Dies struck together without a planchet in between them.

What does Die Deterioration have to do with die clashes?

Looks like on this coin there was HEAVY die polishing to remove the clash.

It had nothing to do with clashing, but what I said about DDD was mention in another post by Coop and he said that's why the dies deteriorated faster. Here's the link. http://goccf.com/t/294195&whichpage=2. On page three, Coop said this: "Yes. Altered surfaces can happen on any Steel cent. Keep in mind that the breakdown of the dies happen quicker because of the Steel dies/steel planchets. Clashes also happen more often on the steel cents reducing the value on them. (possible the zinc plating on the steel may have cause them to hang up a bit during the striking process)".

That doesn't mean that the Die Deterioration is the cause of the clashing.

That's not what I meant. I explained what causes a Die Clash to happen. Here is what I said. "For the Die Clashing, the Dies struck together without a planchet in between them."

Exactly! Sounds like he doesn't know worn dies have nothing to do with clashing.

Mark, I knew it has nothing to do with Clashing. I'm not as stupid as you think. Sorry if this sounded harsh, but I want you to know that I'm not stupid. I don't appreciate your comment either. That's a big insult to me. Don't say that ever again.

This coin is also re-processed making things/events show easier on this coin. But the clash affects happened more often on the steel cents.

Exactly. That was my point Coop about the comment I put about the link and what you said about the Clashing.
