The area above Monticello has various raised anomalies. So is this MD,Lam, or something else? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Extreme die erosion above Monticello, heavy flow lines and Die Deterioration affect both sides so it is a VVLDS coin.

That's interesting. I don't think it is grease and metal particles packed on the die or it would be lower and not raised. The die itself would have to have some "holes" for lack of a better word in the field above Monticello.
I was thinking, it could be called the "1993 P partly cloudy day Jefferson nickel". ;-)

I see heavy Die Deterioration making it a VLDS coin. Very common for that to happen and no extra value.

No deterioration doubling - just a heavily worn die with erosion like @biokemist6 stated!

Mark, do the dies wear faster because of the composition of the Nickels? Remember the 2014 nickel with the "Design Creep" error? The "Design Creep" error was do to the die expanding. It's a rare Die Deformation error and has only been seen in single run. Keep your eyes out for this rare error coin. Here's the link if you want to know more about it. http://www.error-ref.com/design-creep/

Since the 25% nickle alloy would be harder than clad coinage I'd say that would produce more heat into the dies making them break down faster. And the Design Creep nickles are very rare and all have been accounted for - None to be found in circulation.

Thank you Mark for your answer. I had a feeling that's why the dies broke down faster. Design Creep error Nickels on ebay are selling for not cheap. One selling for 100.00.
