Or are you just trying to acquire some coins that may increase in value in the future. A problem free 1895 O Morgan in AU 58 can sell for a lot more than $800. But ... AU cleaned coins in this date seem to be more common and sell in that range .. or less. I don't think either of these coins have that much of a chance of making any big increases in value in the near future. Maybe the gold coin if there is a big spike in the price of gold. As for your question .. if I had to buy one .. it would be the gold. If I had a choice of holding the $800 ... I would .. and wait for a better coin to come along. Report this Post to the Staff

If the gold was trading at $700 it would be a better than average bullion coin though. The Morgan interests me more. Looking at sold listings, there is no lack of bidders for 1895-O's. Though this one is overpriced it is a desirable collector's coin. The scarcer same-date eagle is not...and likely never will be... "Two minutes ago I would have sold my chances for a tired dime." You could get not one, but two nice Seated dollars. You could get an 1853-O no arrows Half Dime. You could get an 1867 dime in great condition. You could get a quarter eagle date that is actually scarce. You could go British and get my British dream coin, a 1765 threepence with less than 20 known.
