I don't think it's a dropped device, so it's just something that looks like a six. I don't see anything else of note.

Ya know, when you look for too long, too closely, the mind tends to see things...its called "eye strain", well, unless other factors like pain meds or "wacky tabackee", or...

Just one of the many kind of weird hits and effects.

Well sometimes the odd things can redirect our attention from the prize.

Hard to confirm with current images, but think I see extra thickness in the motto, liberty and date. After checking around a bit we may want to compare closer to DDO-001. MM location seems spot on. Thanks, Doug.

If I'm not mistaken, that's a doubled die. What does everyone else think?

Mintmark location and style is right.

Agree with who? There is nothing in the photos that even resemble a DD!

Mark, Class 6 doubled dies don't resemble your "typical" doubled die with separation lines and notches. It's all about thickness to the devices and distortion.

I agree, the mint mark style is correct. It's MMS-004 (Trumpet Tail), not MMS-002 (Small S). The thickness is easily seen. Also, the MM placement looks spot on, as Halo and Tanman said to begin with. I think it's DDO-001.

Here is a link to San Francisco mint mark styles for anyone that hasn't found it:

Didn't you just say it was 004? or was that somebody else.? Not to piss you off but I prefer to collect coins that I can see DD and RPM's and not have to use 50X magnification to prove a point. Cheers

Marky Mark,

I don't care what you collect. I surely doesn't "make me mad." I said it was San Francisco mint mark style 004 (MMS-004). It's DDO-001. Looks like it pisses you off that others collect what they like. Tough cookies.

with Mark, let's not forget any unfounded opinion can and will cost the collectors coin and money!!If one doesn't know what they are talking about, they shouldn't form an opinion to begin with!there are plenty of experts here who we can rely upon to get the correct information.
