Probably California gold or a replica of same.

It's a deep field. Hopefully someone here knows that field.

1cent size? If so, is called Civil War Token". These were produced usually by merchants because pennies were in short supply. Some had patriotic sayings, others were "good fors", exchange for goods.

IIRC, Cali gold was mostly made in the 1850s, before the shipments of halves, quarters etc started coming in. At any rate, assume it's a replica or fantasy until proven otherwise!

Sorry @crazob0, but I think that @moxking is right on this one. Looks like California Fractional Gold to me. As he notes, there are tons of replicas.

It is most likely to be a California Gold replica and is probably not gold. However, make sure about the metallic content because, I believe, there were some restrikes/replicas actually made of gold.

Here's my similar replica (not gold):

It looks to be a $1 California gold souvenir token. Take a magnet to it. If it sticks it's fake.
