Hi All, I was offered some money tonight for the new £1.00 coin with what I believe it is a Partial Collar Error, he said he couldn't pay me as much as the last coin £10.00 (he showed me a picture)because the other coins error (same as mine) went all the way round & mine wasn't as big, seemed fair to me as I know nothing but when I enquired on an error site I was told that 'mine was different to the normal as he has never seen one like this before as in the majority of collars has engaged & only part of it hasn't & it comes to such an abrupt end to the blob so the next 2 or more parts of the collar was working, he also said 'cool find' Anyone any idea what I should do please asin sell for a couple of quid or save it? Appreciated.

It appears to be 'finning' caused by a combination of misaligned dies and an out-of-collar strike with excessive strike pressure. The die misalignment or 'tilt' can be posited by the weakness directly opposite on the obverse, i.e. the northeast axis from '2017' to 'II'.

Quite a nice find in circulation!

I'd say it's worth more than 10 quid, in mint condition too. If it was me even if someone offered me 50 pounds I'd keep it just because it's a tough find and would have been a great feeling when you came across it. I get a little sentimental over finds in change though haha!

Neat error! Great find

That's a great find you have, 1ofSixteen! :)

Have you managed to show another coin up here yet?

Cheers and Congratulations on your find!
