I just headed down to my bank and picked up 4 rolls of pennies. And would you guess it? Every. Single. Coin. was from 1982. Not BU, and I believe all copper, but it seems odd to me. Someone dumping their copper collection?

On the upside you have about $4 of copper there.

Yeah, you can put them aside for the point in time that pennies can be melted and you'll have doubled your money.

There's no reason for the government to ever allow anyone but themselves to profit off that.

But more importantly they aren't pure copper, you won't get the top price for them anyway. A refinery offer would almost certainly be significantly back of melt.
Rest in Peace

Also, there's plenty of copper around without ever having to melt copper coinage...why it is absolutely worthless to be saving/stockpiling copper coins. In the zombie apocalypse, bullets and food become the only barter commodities. Makes more sense to put cents in those...

That's no fun. I once got a nickel roll on which someone had written "silver coins." Unfortunately, it was not full of silver nickels.
Rest in Peace

I believe there are seven varieties for that years. Do you already have them all? Might be fun to try to find those.

I save my 95% copper cents to prevent them from being melted.
