I'd need a closeup of the nine from above but it does look like it in the photo. Before you get excited it really is unlikely to find a new major DDO on a cent this old. Good luck. It would be neat to have another very rare modern. ...and it would be quite rare. Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

This is not a Final determination, but, from where I sit, you have MD, Mechanical Doubling. what amac44 is saying is that you should post it in the variety forum. Dick Edited by livingdinasaur

All I can see so far is just a normal Cent. Even magnifying it, I see nothing out of the ordinary. A closer image might help see what you looking at.

Sorry Guys and gals, There is a known 1980 DDO and this is not it. The doubling appears to the SW or the NE depending on your point of view. In any case, there is a nice seperation on the date that makes the upper right of the 8 look bigger. Also, the 9 on the real DDO looks distorted and larger on the upper right of the curve. The 0 in the date looks larger on the upper right and the lower left. This coin looks nothing like it. Thanks, Bill |

Ok.. so it's not a 'real' DDO? As in not the normal one or not one at all? I'm still trying to get a good close-up. I may need to wait for SuperDave to finish his tutuorial =/ If coppercoins doesn't weigh in soon, I'll email him. Maybe I can send it to him, since he does attribution. |
