Yes 'suction marks' are Dr. Courteau's vernacular for what we now more properly identify as 'Clash Marks.'

Some other authors use the moniker of 'oil suction marks.'

The optics, magnification, and photography in use today far surpasses that which was available to the pioneers of the numiamatic discipline.
