I'm new to collecting and the first coin that I acquired, instantly sparked my interest. A 1923-S Silver Peace dollar. I was hoping you guys could share your expertise with me. -What grade would this coin be considered? -What is it possibly worth? -Do you see any noticeable errors or unique markings worth mentioning? -It looked as though there was slight doubling or MD along the outer rim and on the date on the Obverse side, as well as the 'Y' in LIBERTY. As mentioned above, I am very new to coin collecting and this is my first coin collected. Any help would be awesome!

 Your silver dollar looks to be about uncirculated (AU), but abrasively cleaned and scratched. An expert in this coin series here should be able to help you more in depth.

That would be really cool! I got an apprenticeship as a watchmaker/restoration specialist, and the guy owned a pawnshop as well, and he got these house calls where we would go out to someone's property and buy anything worth value or interest. My first house call we bought a box of jewelry, watches, gems, and in it was two of these coins, different dates, and when we left he handed them to me and said pick one and keep it. This is the one I kept. I'm ecstatic to learn more about it and collecting in general!

Also I'm assuming that polishing and cleaning marks are easily distinguishable?

"Easy" in-hand, but not always so easy online from images only. The coin as depicted here could be cleaned, or it could just be an artifact of your camera and the way you lit the coin. Like any skill, this perception can only be developed by practice and seeing a large number of coins in varying conditions. Surface preservation aside, I have this one in the low EF range.

 Wow! Not many of us can count a silver dollar as our first coin collected. This is a circulated grade in what would be termed Very Fine. It's value is about $20 or a little less. I would encourage you to look over the far left titles for some wonderful free education.

Seems like the majority say it looks cleaned, I can take a look at details and compare to others for my own personal experience, thanks everyone for the help. Muchas gracias a todos!

Re-shoot the coin under different lighting - doesn't really matter what particular lighting - and compare the images. Maybe outdoors in full daylight. Just for educational value.
