VLDS but I have seen coins from much later die stage dies where the "orange peel" covers most of the coin and the letting almost just distorted blobs. 1983's are very good for late die stages.

I can't believe my title was renamed when there are a bunch of titles that don't list what kind of coin it is!

@newbie, neat coin thanks for posting.
As for the title change, the mods are trying to make this site easier for folks to use. That isn't to say that they will quash any semblence of originality with a thread title, but they are trying to enforce some minimum standard of clarity. I happen to use the search function of CCF quite a bit, and having a few aspects of the coin in the title is actually pretty helpful.

That's a nice VLDS specimen. I agree that they should've retired the die at that point. But the Mint will do anything to save money. One time, I found a Lincoln Cent from 1982 and it was in a VLDS to the point were the details started to get that extreme stretch like if you inflated a balloon. If you know what I mean. :)

Spence,I agree with you as why I posted in the suggestion forum about this. But I still see threads without even the mention of what kind of coin let alone the year!

I'm thinking different moderators might have different approaches to this?

Certainly a keeper as an example of the dies heading to the end of their usefulness. If the mods change something, it's almost always for the benefit of everyone. Don't let it bother you - be glad we have mods that actually care

We don't have the manpower to catch and change them all. Too many people think vaguely-worded titles are OK. The best we can do is get as many as we can, and hope the membership eventually realizes the good reasons why we're doing this. It wouldn't be necessary if each and every member read each and every new thread. But that's not exactly realistic, eh?

Roger that! It didn't bother me as much as cracking me up! But back to the coin! I'm sure this isn't worth much or if anything,But I do like just how ugly it is! I have a few from the 1970's where the building on the reverse looks as if it's on fire. I just have to go back through this pile of nickels in front of me to find them!
