I got a 2017 D penny today and after studying the differences between DD and MD I'm still a wee bit confused. so, once again I would like everyone's opinion. also, a 1949 with strange Lib in liberty and a 1987 d with I don't know what above the "in" and "G" of in God and the UN in United.all opinions, advice, and comments are appreciated.

#1 MD
#2 Took a hit
#3 DDD or Die Deterioration Doubling.
My 2 cents about your 3 cents.

That 17-P might also be Die Deterioration as the doubling is stretching towards the rims

I forgot to add this pic of another 49. Liberty looked a little fat.

That 2017D is a fantastic example of what is called a "squeeze/pop" of the die. Since going to the "single squeeze" making of cents, the presses as the name implies squeezes the planchet instead of stamping like of old. If the dies are lightly out of alignment, a twisting motion occurs to line up, this makes a loud popping noise...let's 'em know they gotta fix it!
