Im having problems uploading pics. New to the site but I have a 1942 Philadelphia cent that weights 2.73. I also have a 1943 steel that weighs the same. They both have obvious rust pits on the obverses. Tried uploading pics but the optimizer won't finish loading the picture. The pic is 204.0kb too ? Any help would be appreciated ty

Glad you're here.

It looks like a '42 to me. I believe the loss in weight is likely due to material loss. This coin looks like it was in a corrosive environment for a period of time.

Your 1942 Lincoln does not have rust coming out of his cheek. More like traces of the copper trying to be evident amongst all that corrosion . This coin had an unhappy life in a very bad environment .

"Rust" is a specific term dealing with corrosion on steel and iron. Your coin is obviously the normal bronze composition and it infested with severe case of bronze disease/verdigris. The normal brown bronze color can be seen on the rim in several spots where the corrosion has spalled and exposed the underlying metal.
