This post is dedicated to how Hurricane Irma has painfully reminded so many of us of life's priorities, and where coins ultimatly sit.
(I suppose I post this with sarcasm, I don't need a reminder on "preparation" or any Monday Morning QB comments, or am I hoping for any level of charity). This is just my numismatic passioned story.
So I live in Ft Myers and work in Naples. I chose wisely and the family including our 6 birds and 2 dogs evacuated. The eye of the storm passed over my work and house, but thankfully everything seems to still be standing from neighbor's reports. Lost our fence. Will look more closely at the roof, AC, etc, when I can get back home in a few days. But we are all alive to see tomorrow, which ultimately matters most.
While I am on this "vacation" I stopped into the LCS up here... and there it was... The PERFECT 1882 CC Morgan for my hoard of '82s... Well struck, white lustrous, 62/63 grade, fairly priced, no glaring dings or other marks, in govt slab, but most importantly both the reverse die clash and plentiful die cracks on obverse and especially the reverse. Literally screaming "adopt me! adopt me!"
Then reality bit me with reality. As perfect as this would be and as surely as I would buy it without a second thought any other time, the $ for this beauty simply can't be justified. The pain and anguish in my heart as I walked away...
Oh well, hopefully again someday I'll find an even better one! But for today, at least I got the glory of holding this one for a few minutes!
Thank you for listening to my 'oh woah is me'.

Often disasters are forgotten when considering coin rarity or availability. While it is possible that new hoards of certain coins may become available, I wonder if that gain is more or less than the coins lost to floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, mud slides, volcanic eruptions, and so forth.
Perhaps, knowing that Morgan so well, you may discover that your damage is less than expected and you could always give the dealer a call to see if it is still available.
The vast majority of us see far more coins that we love but we cannot justify the purchase. Hopefully you will have another opportunity to find one you love.
The best of luck to you, your family and friends, and neighbors.

I completely understand your dilemma. Hopefully everything will turn out to be okay and you can do as suggested above, give the dealer a call.

I'm in Fort Lauderdale and I stayed. Nothing bad happened except loss of power for a day, although a lot of the trees have fallen onto the roads. Hope you can still get the Morgan!

Glad you all are safe..
I grew up in Florida and enjoyed dozens of visits at Tampa/St.Pete from Orlando. I still have family members at Orlando, and they told me that Irma was scariest hurricane they ever experienced.
Hope you have safe return to your home.

Happy News! The LCS was willing to work with me on a trade. Got my coin and bank account is untouched. My wife even showed support by waiting in the parking lot while I did my thing. It's s good day :) (I had brought my collection with the evacuation for obvious reasons.)

Will try for pics when I can get settled in, I don't have much of a setup. It's a VAM 3, later die state, probably D. Such a great die clash with multiple points of clashing on obverse and reverse, and plenty of cracks on both sides. Not the rarest VAM, but the ease to see it all is great. Plus, I finally have an UNC CC to go along with the P,S,O.

This is a terrific resolution, and a good time to plug that LCS here publicly if you wish.
