I'm kind of confused what a lamination error looks like.

Search lamination and you can see plenty.
Looks like plain old hammer strike damage.

Laminations look like peeled sunburned skin. They are a separation of the alloy mix, stamping caused it to come off like a peeled fruit.

This link will show you many laminations, which although these all show Australian coins, laminations on USA coins look the same. Due to the way they are formed, you'll never see two laminations exactly the same. http://goccf.com/t/109537

The 1991-D posted was damaged after strike. Quote: I'm kind of confused what a lamination error looks like. See below link. Scroll down to Lamination errors for a few examples and also links to other type plachet errors. Thanks, Doug. http://www.error-ref.com/part-v-planchet-errors/

This is no way even close to a Lamination error. This is just heavy PMD on the coin. Only worth face value, making it a spender.
Errers and Varietys.

John1, I don't think so, but I could be wrong.

A lamination is a falling off on a solid copper/silver coin. If something peel away from a zincoln it would be just the outer plating or a burr knocked off the edge of a cent. Copper and silver lamination happen when metal peels off solid core coins. This coin was damaged. (rims flattened)

When I was a kid wed'e used to lay coins in the road and then see if we could skid across them with our bikes - this coin reminds me of that.
