This looks like a matte specimen? Can anyone with knowledge comment. The surface is not lustrous, has a silky appearance. Surface is flat not convex like a business strike, no signs of cleaning. Sharp lettering grey gun metal appearance

More likely a high-grade business strike; specimens are rare.

Looks like there is mark on the kings cheek...and the rims look a bit beat-up.

Nice coin!

I'm going to say it's possible, sharpness, kings eyebrow, and ear, lacks thick luster which is Constant for the issue, some specimens have the odd little ding, this doesn't bother me. The lettering is square the coin does have a matte look. Different than the normal strikes imo. Smooth finish also. Very nice coin!

No wear, has to get a somewhere near top condition MS grading.

Small hit under the eye, some small rim bumps.
Head detail on rear rower just about fully struck up,
(head detail on front rower not quite there)*.

* this the reason that makes me think that it is a better than average quality business strike.

Superb coin

Maybe the rims would be be a bit different and perfect on a specimen..

Many 35's traveled in tubes to the banks ..so great ones are definitely out there..

This is a very nice one ...

Was just looking at this again, the close up picture, around the fields in the crown, the surface it certainly has a different finish than the business strikes. I wonder if it's reused specimen dies for business strike? That's an odd one, beautiful coin btw
