Nothing like helping billionaire owners and millionaire players make more money with this coin via royalties.

The "billionaire owners" and "millionaire players" only reached such financial levels because fans have been (and continue to be) willing to buy high-priced tickets to the games, stock up on expensive team apparel/memorabilia and subscribe to pay-TV channels that broadcast the games. You can't blame the owners/players for making what money they can if someone else is willing to pay the tab! Quote: Clearly the Mint has mastered the craft of unique alternative shaped coins...endless possibilities coming down the road. I agree. The RCM continues to follow a path toward novelty coins vs. traditional. I took another look at the September releases recently and noticed that there was not a single traditional coin in the release. The release was filled with colourized, gold-plated and/or otherwise embellished coins, coins of unusual shape or over-sized pieces more akin to medals than circulating coinage. I didn't see a single straight-up, non-embellished silver coin in the bunch. The future seems somewhat bleak for the collector who favors plain coins!

The Polar Bear soapstone sculpture coin is featured as very limited quantity. So it is likely a commissioned coin. It is hand carved by Cdn artist Dave Zachary. It must took him a long time to carve 1300 of them! It is not white but greyish looking and is enclosed in a dome similar to the gold plated sculpture coin.
The Golden Maple Leaf coin is advertised as the first silver coin to have 1 gram of 18K gold maple leaf,

The 2 oz maple leaf coin, with 1g of 18k Gold, seems very attractive. The mintage is low at 2750.

@MoneyPenney Quote: It is hand carved by Cdn artist Dave Zachary. It must took him a long time to carve 1300 of them! Each polar bear sculpture is carefully hand-carved from Canadian soapstone by Canadian artist Dave Zachary and his team of sculptors. I wonder how many are in his team of sculptors. The Stanley Cup coin is nice but the rest not so impressive. IMO.

Ok, so who remember the Gulo-Gulo USD 69 issue price? Check out internet resources - new series from RCM is coming, and the pictures (atleast for me) look cool. And important: these are not totally overpriced 2oz / 3oz coins, but Silver Dollar format affordable and neat. First comes Owl. This October. Some people will load a hundred (first coin in series, remember?) maybe not. make your decisions and don't forget to enjoy

Polar Bear cub, yay, so cute, on top of 5oz coin. I would buy this for CAD 20 - 30. Saw something similar in souvenir store (or it was branch of RCM boutique? )

All of us already usual to variety of the "enhanced" SMLs, some with nice and majority with very cliche design.
The amount of different designed multiplied by 5-10 compares previous year (while the mintage decreased to fit the demand)
And usually (but not always), the Obverse side, with the QEII remains un-touched, maximum layered with ruthenium.
But the recent enhancement: mail came from European dealer, where pictures shown: on the reverse there is an tiger, like jumping, and on the obverse, Queen's face shows the "bleeding marks" . Not sure, that it was good idea....
