Thoughts on these. Any suggestions for conservation of the 1871 2 cent or submit it to PCGS as is.

Indian Head at the AU range, probably about a 55.

The 2 cent has been dip cleaned and is suffering from environmental damage. A dip in pure acetone might help, followed by pure water rinse and air dried.

Agree with AU on 1869....The shame of it is that the 2 cent may be too far gone for any straight grade, nice date too!

Any other opinions? I am going to work on the 1871 2 cent later today with some acetone and verdicare and see how it looks

Yea the 1871 didn't pan out tired acetone and verdicare no improvements. Still I am into the 1871 only $5 so it'll go up on ebay this weekend. The 1869' is going to PCGS next trip it looks like a minimum $500 piece, not bad for a $20 investment.
