trying to gauge if there is any interest in this concept. it would require at minimum about ten participants. basic concept: I would put a group of coins and/or numismatic related items in a box and send it to the first person on the list. the first person could choose to keep any or all or of the items in the box but for every item they pick the replace with an item of at least similar or greater value or pick nothing and just forward the box along. post pics of what they keep and what they replace it with. then they would send it to the next person. next person does the same. when we get to the end of the list it starts over. participants would be limited to those eligible to sell items, I think that means over 250 quality posts. I am open to suggestions as well as criticisms. please post here if you are interested

I would like it but I think the PO already makes enough on shipping. Maybe a couple coins with a limit of value would be cheaper and more feasable.

As TNG stated, Postal costs may well off-set what is in box. To make it worthwhile, a Priority small box at $7.30 (gone up?) or in an 11x14 envelope at $6.65 would be only reasonable modes, weight of four dollar size objects 1st class would exceed that quickly. If items were say folders/albums or coin rolls Priority mail is recommended. For people to pass it on, I would think that swapping equal value may become moot after 5 or 6 stops, what was sent out first may indeed be wanted but picked over by the fifth stop. If the recipient wasn't interested in any of the items he will take it in the shorts to send it on. That's where I see a problem. A set list of people is in-flexable but the only other option is to post list of contents and send to first response, then that person repeats the posting of new/old items. I know if I hadn't swapped out any items , it would burn me to pay for a nothing deal, something I didn't want or need. But doing that, is...complicated.

So... how about people living outside the US? And who will get the box in the end?

I think Crazy is on the right track.
Keep the basic idea. Set a minimum of value per item to make it worth messing with.
Instead of shipping, photo and show here. Keep track of what each person wants and adds. At the end, each person that had items selected would be mailed to the recipient that kept that item. Should keep us at first class to stay inexpensive for shipping. No rolls or sets because of weight restrictions UNLESS the person offering a set or roll is willing to pay for postage for that final choice.
Also, what would be included or restricted? World Coins, exonumics, mint or proof sets, ancients?

It's an interesting idea. I'd be in if something is agreed to.

I need to get my posts up because I would be in too. My mother does this with her homestead YouTube friends and it's pretty cool actually

If I had enough posts to participate I would totally be a part of this.
