after spending hours looking at the RPM section of Wexler's coin and die varieties, I'm still not sure if it is a RPM so I would likes the experts opinions please. It's in really good condition so I'm including some pics of the lettering as well. I don't see anything in the letters other than some MD but I haven't been right yet.

I do see MD on IGWT and the MM itself. I don't think you have a RPM.

I thought that it wasn't until 1994 that the mint marks became part of the master die which makes me ask how can the Mint mark be MD if it was struck by hand and hammer?

No, they stop punching them by hand in 1990. MD can happen on the MM too. Go to this link and you'll see what I mean about MD happening on the MM. http://www.Lincolncentresource.com/...oubling.html

Your welcome. This should help you out a lot on this. Maybe print it out as a page and keep it for reference purposes.

Ok, it say that " a tell tale sign of Machine Doubling is when the mint mark and the date show the same doubling" yet I don't see any doubling in the date. Am I missing something?

MD can be or at least seem quite picky but it usually "attacks" the "tallest" elements of the design. The MM may have been punched in deeper than the date impression on the die was(reversed image remember) same with different letters around the design. MD is a bouncing of the die(s), the edges of the devices catch on those high details first for some reason.

Best I can explain it, sorry.

The MD is visible on the 6 & 9 of date and perhaps more can be seen in a different angle since your coin is a Proof and its shiny surface causes more glare when light hits it when taking Pics., but the doubling does not necessarily have to be of the same degree on the MM and the date devices in order to be a MD and Crazub0 explained how the MD occurs pretty well.
