Just received a bonus that has to be redeemed in gift cards. I'm leaning toward an Amazon card and overpaying for "free" coins/bullion rather than a pile of food cards I may or may not use. It's not a lot of money, $750.00, but it's enough to pick up something needed, fun or different. If you had such a windfall, what would you buy?

Sorry, freezer full of steaks is not an option.
The other options are restaurant, clothing, flower, movie, travel website or sporting goods cards.

Why not go for a numismatic trip to Mexico or Europe? Lots of cheap American coin shopping there! And $750 should get you a transatlantic ticket to Europe and a week in a 3* hotel in quite a few cities in addition, nowadays...

Given the exclusive choice between Amazon and food, I'd go with Amazon, no question. But would I buy coins/bullion from them? Not a chance, even "free". No picture of the specific item, often too expensive, limited communication tools, lackluster seller feedback profile... (I have much greater faith that ebay's feedback ratings are generally representative of their entire transaction history than Amazon's.) I buy enough from Amazon that the $750 would not go to waste, even through routine shopping. I could use that same $750 elsewhere and call it a wash. There, I would buy something numismatic.

Well, since large silver bullion will be totally worthless in the upcoming financial crush and zombie apocalypse as a means of exchange, and food isn't an option ...the next tradeable commodity will be guns or bullets, get a sporting goods card, a couple cans of 5.56mm HP's would do me FINE!

I'd take the Amazon card. Even if you don't use it for coins you can get basically anything there

Get the Amazon card and buy the coin that you want. I saw a 1928 MS62 PCGS $2.50 gold eagle for $428 that I liked. Yes, it is over priced, but I would have no problems buying it if I had a $750 gift card from a bonus.

Save up a bit and get the gold liberty quarter, Mercury dime, walking liberty coins graded 70. I would like a set of the 2001 silver Buffalo coins as well.
