Everyone,

I was looking through some pocket change today and found this. I am not sure what to cal the mark on the date but I am uploading some images hoping for some advice.

Thank you for any assistance that you can provide.

What that is, is a plating issue, most likely a plating bubble...gasses and or debris trapped in between the plating and core shifted due to pressure and press vibration. There may be the beginnings of "zinc rot" formation, zinc corrodes easily with exposure to contaminants.

Besides the bubble - that is one really nice RED 1983-D. That one might even be worthy to put in a plastic air-tite.

Nice grade for that and you were smart enough to protect it immediately.

Looks like plating debris to me. Small chance it is die chips.

Is anyone willing to put a grade to it? I'm thinking ms64, just wanting to see what anyone else is thinking.
