1944-Wheat-Penny-Has-D-And-Also-An-S?

I've seen the ones with a d stamped on top of the s but this one seems to have an s well below where the d is located? Anyone have knowledge of this before?

It does look like an S but way too big to be a Mint Mark. Can't really tell what it is exactly from the picture.
Rest in Peace

Sure do, doesn't it. Even enlarged! But it isn't a Mintmark, 1) Too Big 2) No Serifs (end thingies) 3) Different color than devices around it.

It is some form of Post Mint Damage ( PMD), quite common during travels. It may be damaged metal pushed around, but doesn't look like it, looks more like gunk adheared to the coin. Pure acetone bath may clean it off and solve the mystery, so would picking at it with a knife blade
Folks here don't like that, but coin is a standard Wheat cent worth 2 cents at a dealers shop, so...in the interests of science, what do you do?

I agree that it is PMD (Post Mint Damage). It is also a good example of pareidolia.
