Hummm, current exchange rate for this coin is 5 cents, what else?

Ponderance for the day:

If the banks give you a full exchange for at least 50% of the remainder of a bill, do you think they would give you full credit for only half of a coin?

I no longer give people a penny for their thoughts, ain't worth that much...

Lots of little dings caused by being in circulation, no sign that I can see of extra stampings. Sorry but it's all PMD I'm afraid.

I see what looks like some numbers here and there like where it says five cents on the back just above where the gap is looks like some thing and underneath e pluribus unum it looks like some wording and the same on the front under in god we trust and liberty you can see letters. And the letter p looks like it might be double stamped. I'm not very good at this I look at coins with my 10x jewelers magnifying glass and I see stuff so I ask for info so I can learn. Thanks for the info.

My pics are very good at showing what I'm seeing when I look at it with my magnifing glass. Cus there is a bunch of stuff that someone scribbled on it also but there are the stuff that I'm talking about on it. Its just kinda hard to see them in these pics. Just wanted to know if anyone could spot the stuff I'm talking about thanks.

I think it's most likely damage that may appear to form letters or something else discernible.

jbuck recently reminded me of the concept: Pareidolia or, more broadly, apophenia.

Pareidolia is a good analogy. " Pareidolia is a type of apophenia, which is a more generalized term for seeing patterns in random data. Some common examples are seeing a likeness of Jesus in the clouds or an image of a man on the surface of the moon". For those that don't know what it means.

Not really an analogy, just the truth.

Another form of apophenia that is seen on CCF frequently is confirmation bias. That is not the case here, though, with the OP Britton.

Some folks just see what they want to see and will not budge despite multiple opposing educated opinions and clear evidence to support them. It's pretty clear when it happens and it usually ends poorly.
