Coin Color Errors, Other Then Chemical Are There Color Error Coins?

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 09/27/2017 3:25 pm Most often coin coloring happens after they leave the mint. Additives to the coin alter the color. Surroundings alter color. Storage alters colors. Cleanings/heat alter colors. Even the cello on the older mint sets will alter coins in time. Nickels can change to a blue tone. I found a 1963 cent (was still in mint cello had turned silver in color. Coin folders can alter colors. Sometimes a toned coin will be more desirable: Sometimes not. It all depends on the collector.
