I saw the Woody post so that brings up my question. I've heard of black beauty. ( Not sure ) on that are there others ? Of a color variety error. Here is a Lincoln 1961 d as an example.

Most often coin coloring happens after they leave the mint.
Additives to the coin alter the color.
Surroundings alter color. Storage alters colors.

Even the cello on the older mint sets will alter coins in time.
Nickels can change to a blue tone.

The first thing that came to my mind is the Black Beauty nickel then the brass plated Lincoln cents.

coop- I also believe your "TONED IN A WHITMAN ALBUM" post just solved my problem and answered my question on this thread regarding my 1944 Lincoln Cent.
