I have a question regarding this doubling.

Assuming that the word "Liberty" was created as one piece and was stamped as one solid piece, how can Mechanical Doubling produce the doubling on a few letters, on a side, but not be continued on the remaining letters? The pronounced doubling is on the north-west side of "ber" in "Liberty", but not on the "Li" or "ty".

Note the '0' in the date? That is MD reducing the size of that device. Note the area affected, the device is reduced/distorted by the MD.

Yes, but in the stamping of the date, the numbers are stamped individually and not as one connected feature.

And also the distortion of the "2" in the date is about the same as that of the "0", but the distortion on the letter above the "2" isn't to the extent of the distortion on the letter above the "0".

All the design is added to the die since 1908 (except for the mint marks until 1989) After 1990 they whole design is added to the die. So there are no repunched numbers since 1908. Machine Doubling. Normal die, die movement altered the strike. Not a doubled die.
