I acquired this coin a few months ago and know very little about it. I have heard that Monster Toning can be valuable, and somewhat rare. Mine has a ton of dark blue/purple around the edges. Anyways, I was curious what you guys think of my new coin.

I'm always skeptical when both sides have identical colored and shaped toning.

to CCF. I am no pro but it has the look of AT,artificial toning to me. You may want to do some research on coin toning,AT vs NT (artificial vs natural)

That toning looks very unnatural, sorry to say.
Rest in Peace

to CCF! The pictures are a bit small but I'm afraid your Morgan would be deemed questionable color by the reputable third party grading services. What's referred to as "monster toning" usually occurred during storage by the mint in sulfur infused canvas bags. This link is required reading for anyone who wants to collect toned Morgan dollars http://www.jhonecash.com/coins/tone...asp#howtoned

And please do not purchase raw coins off ebay from sellers such as this one.https://www.ebay.com/sch/Morgan-187...micmarketing

When I saw the thread heading, I thought: heat treatment.

Then I saw the picture of the coin.

My suspicion remains.

Nevertheless,
my inclination is to accept the coin, because I like it.
Also nevertheless, I would not pay any extra for grade WITH, or WITHOUT the nice coloring.

It must be remembered that fantastic coloring is a very delicate unstable state between blast white a a lovely even gray patina, which can take a century or more to form.

That is why I would be able to accept the coin, but not pay one jot more for grade.

It looks artificial to me. I remember seeing artificially colored morgans all over ebay Back when I was collecting morgans.

The color would be super exxagerated in saturation
Purple and oranges with no other color.

Real toning in Natural color spectrums go in specific order in color range.

Whatever the source, and I agree it's probably artificial, I like the toning. I would never buy a coin like this but I do like seeing them.
Rest in Peace
