My coin friend (never met him, but exchange information and ideas, and buy coins from him) recently got a "double penny" as in the attached images. We both have no idea about what it is. Hopefully someone may know what it is and teach us about this! Thank you. Eric

Is there any way you could make your images larger? The proportion of coin to total is fine, it's just that the pictures themselves are displayed very small.

Hi RoyCoinBoy,
Sorry for late reply. I don't know how to make a bigger picture of the coin. But for now what I can say is that this coin is weighted about 5.7 grams and diameter is about 27mm. It is struck, not cast. It seems to have Elfred's face. We have done some research and know that there was Elfred's or Offa's offering penny to God and this kind of offering penny, according to the book source, is weighted about 7 grams.
My gut feeling is that this coin is authentic and is probably an offering penny to God, but its weight (about 6.5 grams) is not what the book said (about 7 grams). So still quite confused.
If you have some idea or information about what this coin may be, that would be good. But if no further idea or information, then never mind.
Thank you.

Now I am confused. Is it 5.7 grams or 6.5 grams?

Sorry my typo error - should be 5.7 grams (approx) as actual weight of the coin compared to 7 grams (approx) noted in one reference book if this coin is an offering coin by Anglo Saxon kings to God.

Anything can happen, we just need larger pics to know what we're dealing with...

And Welcome! [:)
