Here are images of 3 different Canada 150-Northern Lights-Regular (i.e. Not GITD). I am wondering if this is indicative of progressive
Die Deterioration?
A - Normal version
B - See some extra metal in hollows of Northern Light bands (1 and 2)
C - See some more extra metal in hollows of Northern Light bands (1, 2 and 3)
I have also another kind where extra metal as shown in 1 is only present.
The most common variety is the normal variety. The second most common is the one with extra metal only at location 1. The Type B is less common and Type C is the least common
The height of the extra metal particularly in locations 2 and 3 is more than the height of the Northern Light bands. This would mean that the deterioration of the die is deeper in those areas than the actual relief. Is there any significance to that?
