i recently picked up this beautiful dime. Graded attributed by anacs as ms60.I know the 45 S IMM is rather sought after but any idea on how rare the 42 S is ór generally what kind of prices they can bring? Only seen a few of these in all my years and found another coin collectibles website where someone claimed only 15-20 of these 42 S IMM even exist? Anybody know even a pinch for info on this error? I can't seem to to find anything on any website about them.

I appreciate the links but those both lead to the 1945 S IMM, the one I obtained is a 1942 S IMM. I can't seem to find any sort of info on it other than the slab it's in and it stating it's a IMM. Looking at it, it is most deff a inverted mm. I wish to try and find out how rare these are and if any have been graded higher than ms60, if so then I need that one to ha ha.

Thank you :) I looked on NGC and didn't see anything for it. Idk why I didn't try PCGS.... Lol
I am curious as to why they have AU58 valued at 300 but MS60 at 100... Curious but either way valued at plenty more than what I paid.

I can not vouch for there accuracy. Maybe a typo or included an error or an early listing before more higher graded examples sold.

May search and compare on ebay for items sold as well.

Have read over and over TPG's in preferred order are PCGS, NGC and then ANACS. ANACS tends to attribute and grade things higher than the other two do.

Since I don't buy or sell (yet). I'm just repeating what others have thought on it. Thanks, Doug.

Are you in reference to the "Ball-Ball" small S? 1) That's normal. 2) there were 3 mintmarks used interchangably during the years of 1940 and 1946. For instance, the "small S" on the 1941 cent was used on approximately 85% of soins, a Large S was estimated to have been used on 8-12% of the coins. Same goes for the other denominations, just that some years possibly only one of the working Dime dies in SF had the smaller S. BTW, inverting a Ball serif still has a bll on bottom and top.
